Junior Landscape Architect or Technician

Job Details:       As one of our Junior Professionals you will work in our new office space with a team of Landscape Architects, Urban Designers and Planners assisting with land development and municipal approval services, public open space, privately owned outdoor amenity spaces, rooftop gardens, environmental restoration, streetscape design and urban design briefs. Tasks will include and may not be limited to site visits, conceptual design, design development, technical drawings and tender documents, and cost estimates in support of the overall team.

Description:      ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create technical/CAD drawings and assist other staff as needed.
• Render conceptual design ideas and prepare 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings.
• Develop planting lists as appropriate per project.
• Offer solutions to technical problems.
• Research appropriate design and construction materials.
• Assist in preparation of reports for various types of studies, including master plans, urban design guidelines, and environmental assessments.
• Prepare cost estimates
• Enthusiastically participate and contributes to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs to further professional development of self and others.
• Assist in ensuring that all project work is delivered on time and on budget for agreed upon deliverables.
• Work closely with the firm’s Partners and other internal team members to meet overall project objectives.
• Undertake duties in addition to those above that are related to the work required and services performed by Whitehouse Urban Design Inc, and occasionally our affiliate Urban Solutions Planning and Land Development, as requested by the Principal(s) of the corporation.

Qualifications: MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Degree in Landscape Architect or related field, or Technician Diploma in landscape

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Proficiency in AutoCAD (and preferably work experience in an office)
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
• Proficiency in Sketchup
• Revit proficiency is an asset
• Ability to effectively communicate with others at varying technical levels
• Strong attention to detail, analytical, time management and project management skills, research, and organizational skills
• Strong design and graphic communication (hand/computer) skills
• Proficiency in the basic technical skills of landscape design and construction including the following computer skills
• Demonstrated technical skills in preparing technical working drawings (grading and layout plans, planting plans, construction details)
• Ability to focus on a variety of project types or multiple, concurrent projects in various stages of development
• Ability to communicate design ideas and direction quickly
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Obvious enthusiasm and passion for the landscape industry
• Capable of effectively meeting deadlines
• Valid G2 license
