A little more about us.

Whitehouse Urban Design Incorporated is a professional consulting firm providing Landscape Architecture and Urban Design services to a range of development and redevelopment projects including multi-unit residential, commercial, mixed-use, institutional and industrial uses. Whitehouse Urban Design Inc brings a unique combination of skills and experience to projects, with its co-founder and Principal Landscape Architect having over 20-years of experience working with municipalities, members of the general public, politicians, agencies, and interest groups to achieve success throughout the development process.


Whitehouse Urban Design Inc. is currently involved in a number of projects across Southwestern Ontario, with scopes ranging from complex condominium developments to industrial subdivisions and high-rise multi-unit residential towers.


The expertise in Landscape Architecture and Urban Design that we bring to every project is strengthened by the personal approach we take to all our projects. We focus on meeting client needs and working collaboratively to achieve positive development results.


We provide our clients with a full suite of design solutions from land suitability and visual impact assessment through to building permit.

Le’Ann Whitehouse Seely

Principal Landscape Architect
OALA, CSLA

Le’ Ann is a Full Member with Seal of the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects with over 25-years of industry experience. She teaches Landscape Architecture at the University of Guelph and has lectured at the Universities of Guelph and Toronto on professional practice in landscape architecture. Over her career, Le’Ann has overseen numerous development and redevelopment projects, many of them being award-winners. She has navigated municipal and agency approval requirements, created a highly successful and duplicated model for effective consultation, and has been an invited speaker on the value of high-quality spaces.


Le’ Ann is a qualified Expert Witness at the Ontario Land Tribunal, has written in the Ontario Planning Journal on community-based planning and design, and currently advises the City of Burlington on urban design and public realm development matters as a member of their Urban Design Advisory Panel.


Individual Awards and Recognition:
Notable Graduate, University of Guelph School of Environmental Design and Rural Development. Recognition by the University as an alumnus notable for achievements post-graduation. David Erb Memorial Award, Ontario Association of Landscape Architects Recognition of outstanding leadership and contributions to the profession over many years. Excellence in Communications, Canadian Society of Landscape Architects For authoring books on how to successfully complete the landscape architecture registration exams. Excellence in Landscape Architecture American Society of Landscape Architects in collaboration with the University of Guelph.

Project Awards As the project manager, Le’ Ann lead a team to the successful completion of the following award-winning projects. Urban Design Award Award of Excellence in Public Building Project: Gage Park Greenhouse Urban Design Award Award of Outstanding Achievement and Excellence in Urban Design Project: Gore Park Pedestrianization Initiative Ontario Concrete Award Award of Excellence in Architectural Hardscape Project: Gore Park Pedestrianization Initiative - Veterans’ Place and Pedestrian Promenade Ontario Concrete Award Award of Excellence in Architectural Hardscape Project: Turner Skatepark Urban Design Awards Award of Excellence in Landscape Architecture Project: East Kiwanis Place Urban Design and Architecture Awards Award of Merit in Heritage Conservation Project: Dundurn National Historic Site In addition to the above noted award-winning projects, Le’ Ann has managed numerous Landscape Architecture projects of varying complexities.

Kathy Zhu, OALA, CSLA

Landscape Architect / Urban Designer
MSc, MLA

Kathy has a University of Toronto master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, as well as a University of Waterloo degree in Environmental Studies Honours Planning with a Specialization in Urban Design. With a background in both Landscape Architecture and Urban Design, Kathy is passionate about how design details shape the human experience, as well as how a site can seamlessly integrate with its context.

Julia Jerzyk, OALA Candidate

Revit / BIM Lead

BLA

Julia holds a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture with a minor in Geographic Information Systems and Environmental Analysis from the University of Guelph. 


Julia’s professional experience includes large scale ‘entertainment and experience’ design on projects around the world, as well as small and large-scale urban design, institutional, residential, and commercial developments.
